Happy New Year! Happy 1 Year Anniversary to my Buddha Blog!

Let our New Year’s resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word. Goran Persson

Happy New Year to all of my wonderful, beautiful friends here at WordPress!!! I love each of you. Everyday, the very best part of my day is to get up with my coffee and read your blogs. Each and everyday that you have posted you have let me into your hearts and homes for a brief moment in time and it has been such a joy. I don’t have enough room to mention every single one of you, but you know how you are, I have liked your words and thoughts and have even shared some of my thoughts with each of you. There have been happy times and, yes, there have been tears. There have been times that I have been driven to anger and times I have been driven to laughter, and through it all you have all been there at my side, and shared with me when I was wrong. For that I love each and everyone of you! Have a beautiful 2013 and I hope to share more with you as the next year rolls by. I will try to post a vlog later for you if I have time!

Sick or not I survived the gig last night. It was a great time and we had a full house all night long. My voice held up all night, which was a blessing and I was real worried. It was a very nice acoustic gig and is a nice change up from the whole 5 piece band. I hope the New Year finds everyone happy and healthy. We are set to play at the New Frontier Club tomorrow night and it should be fun! Here a re a few random pics from the gig at the Brewery.

 Unfortunately I am still sick. I am so willing to listen to any brilliant ideas that anyone has about how I am supposed to wake up tomorrow and not have a sore throat. I can’t believe how tenacious this freakin’ cold has been. I’m actually getting a little, (a lot), scared. I have never in my life had a cold hang on so hard. Maybe. it’s because I am getting older, I don’t know. I got sick last year and was in and out of the hospital 4 times and they inundated my body with antibiotics and I really don;t want to go there. So, I am trying OJ, Nyquil and a variety of other home remedies. If anyone has ideas I am open. I am going to have to go lay down now because my head is congested and I am tired. I know I said somethings about Mexicans that some of you may not have liked, but I am just speaking what I know. You can do a Vin Diagram on it, if you like, chances are, if the Vin Diagram fits, it’s probably true.  Peace my friends, I’ll catch you on the flip side….

Verticle Oracle cardAquarius (January 20-February 19)
“Genius is the ability to renew one’s emotions in daily experience,” said French painter Paul Cezanne. What do you think he meant by that? Here’s one interpretation: Many of us replay the same old emotions over and over again — even in response to experiences that are nothing like the past events when we felt those exact feelings. So a genius might be someone who generates a fresh emotion for each new adventure. Here’s another possible interpretation of Cezanne’s remark: It can be hard to get excited about continually repeating the basic tasks of our regular routines day after day. But a genius might be someone who is good at doing just that. I think that by both of these definitions, 2013 could be a genius year for you Aquarians.

White Xmas!

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. Norman Vincent Peale

We had an amazing Xmas! Everything was truly perfect! No, there weren’t a ton of presents. No, there wasn’t a visit down the chimney from Good Ole St. Nick. What there was was a perfect meal, if I do say so myself. The ham was absolutely tender and all the side dishes were marvelous! I am not tooting my own horn, but I am a wicked cook. 🙂 I even managed to screw up the stuffing and by some bizarre mistake that I usually don’t make figured out how to make my stuffing even more fluffy. See I put in the butter, onions, leeks and celery but spaced out the water. LOL, silly me. So I added the stuffing to the sauteed ingredients minus the water. After I realized that I had forgotten the water I added just about 1 cup and the stuffing came out absolutely buttery and fluffy. What a cool mistake. The German Chocolate Cake I made from scratch was a big hit also. We had great company, wonderful food and it even managed to snow! I have a ton of pics to share with all my WordPress friends. I hope you enjoy! 🙂

Let’s go down the steps and see if we can find some z images to kick off the week!

“Peace is not something you wish for, it something you make, something you do, something you are, something you give away.”–Robert Fulghum

In an effort to actively do something to create more peace in the world in 2013, I am dedicating a number of my posts specifically to peace. I invite you to join me. We can call ourselves “Bloggers for Peace.” Everyone is invited to join. The requirements are simple and flexible.

  • Devote at least one post a month to/for/about peace. If you write poems or fiction, write a piece about peace. If you take photos, post a photo or gallery that reflects, symbolizes, defines, or creates peace. If you write rants, rant at something that disturbs the peace or rant about something that promotes peace. If you are into zen, post a blank white page. If you are an artist…you get the idea. On Giving…

On Giving…

I am not a big poetry fan, however, Kahlil Gibran is one of my favorites, so much so that I read his poem “On Love” as part of my wedding vows. On that note I wanted to share his poem “On Giving” with you for Christmas.

On Giving
 Kahlil Gibran

You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
For what are your possessions but things you keep and guard for fear you may need them tomorrow?
And tomorrow, what shall tomorrow bring to the overprudent dog burying bones in the trackless sand as he follows the pilgrims to the holy city?
And what is fear of need but need itself?
Is not dread of thirst when your well is full, the thirst that is unquenchable?

There are those who give little of the much which they have–and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire makes their gifts unwholesome.
And there are those who have little and give it all.
These are the believers in life and the bounty of life, and their coffer is never empty.
There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.
And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.
And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, nor give with mindfulness of virtue;
They give as in yonder valley the myrtle breathes its fragrance into space.
Through the hands of such as these God speaks, and from behind their eyes He smiles upon the earth.

It is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding;
And to the open-handed the search for one who shall receive is joy greater than giving.
And is there aught you would withhold?
All you have shall some day be given;
Therefore give now, that the season of giving may be yours and not your inheritors’.

You often say, “I would give, but only to the deserving.”
The trees in your orchard say not so, nor the flocks in your pasture.
They give that they may live, for to withhold is to perish.
Surely he who is worthy to receive his days and his nights, is worthy of all else from you.
And he who has deserved to drink from the ocean of life deserves to fill his cup from your little stream.
And what desert greater shall there be, than that which lies in the courage and the confidence, nay the charity, of receiving?
And who are you that men should rend their bosom and unveil their pride, that you may see their worth naked and their pride unabashed?
See first that you yourself deserve to be a giver, and an instrument of giving.
For in truth it is life that gives unto life while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness.

And you receivers… and you are all receivers… assume no weight of gratitude, lest you lay a yoke upon yourself and upon him who gives.
Rather rise together with the giver on his gifts as on wings;
For to be over-mindful of your debt, is to doubt his generosity who has the free-hearted earth for mother, and God for father.

With that I leave you wioth Miss Billie Holiday….

It was so freakin’ windy today!!! It was frigid and cold and brrrrrrrrrrrrr! I don’t have time tonight to do my vlog, but I will make sure to do it tomorrow. I spent the day with my mom doing Christmas stuff for her. Which was cool because it made me forget about all the worries with my accounts. We went to Wally World and she went on her merry little way to do her shopping and I went on my merry little way to get the last of the fixings for Christmas dinner. I got a beautiful ham for $8.88! I also got the fixings for Michael’s favorite, German Chocolate Cake, which I make from scratch, YUM! While I was there I picked up an outfit that is perfect for stage. Mom bought me some cute black leggings to go with my boots and I found a hot pink and black skirt and a hot pink top with a silver smiley face on it. You’re just gonna have to see it to believe it. It is definitely not my normal stage outfit, but I am trying to change things up a little. Anyway, it was a great day. Michael picked up some side work the last couple of days that brought in some extra Christmas money that enabled us to do a few things that we probably couldn’t have without the extra work. Anyway, I hope this blog finds everyone well and happy….Peace and I leave you with” Stormy Weather” Miss Etta, who else :)…

Cosmic Mandate…

Aquarius Horoscope for week of December 20, 2012

Verticle Oracle cardAquarius (January 20-February 19)
I can’t force you to seek more pleasure in 2013. I won’t nag you to play harder and explore the frontiers of feeling really good. However, I will say this: If you don’t plan to put yourself into at least partial alignment with the cosmic mandate to have maximum fun, you may not get the best use out of the advice I’ll be offering though my horoscopes in the coming year. Please consider the possibility of ramping up your capacity for pure enjoyment.

“Is it bad to live without a hell?” poet Pablo Neruda asks in The Book of Questions. Let’s add these queries to his: Is it dangerous to live without the awakening force that an enemy provides? Is it naive to think you can achieve great success without the driving motivation that comes from thinking about ideas you hate?

Consider the issue from another angle. Dentists love tooth decay. Treating cavities provides them with a steady income. Likewise, exterminators are dependent on termites, lawyers need crime, and priests crave sinners. Lots of people have symbiotic connections with nasty stuff. In fact, isn’t it true that most of us nurture our feelings for the things we love to despise and fear?

What’s your favorite poison or adversary? Assume that your exposure to pronoia is changing you in ways that will require you to update your relationship with it. Speculate on how you’ll go about this task.

So what do you think of the video blog? I’m actually enjoying doing it because I feel closer to you. It’s also easier for me to express myself if I just speak what’s on my mind rather than typing it out. I feel self-conscious, like a bug under a microscope, but it is a lot easier to express myself that way. I just kind of start the webcam and speak whatever is on my mind. I don’t really plan out what I am going to talk about. I am not going to video blog everyday because it takes more time to create a video blog than just sitting down and typing my blog out. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying it. You probably think I am crazy, who knows, maybe I am? LOL.

A change is coming my friends. I have had another opportunity thrown at me, and it’s a good one. One dream I have always had, besides music and writing, is to run a restaurant. I have a meeting today with a gentleman that is opening a restaurant in one of the nicest areas in Boise, Hyde Park in the Northend of Boise. In my lifetime I have run every facet of restaurants, from back of house to front of house. This is a great opportunity for me and I can only hope that I get it. I know that it is going to soak up every bit of my extra time, but I am ok with that. I will let you know how it goes. Your days are short here; this is the last of your springs. And now in the serenity and quiet of this lovely place, touch the depths of truth, feel the hem of Heaven. You will go away with old, good friends. And don’t forget when you leave why you came. Adlai E. Stevenson

I am not going to say much about the shootings today except that it’s sad and breaks my heart. There is never a good explanation for why these things happen and people will be analyzing it for weeks. That’s what we do. In the light of tragedy we try to understand human failings and frailties. Will we ever understand? No. Do you know why? Because we are not the person who was holding the gun and pulling the trigger. It is the ultimate enigma. Does it beg the question of the omnipotence of a God if a God could allow this to happen? I’m not sure. I do know that it’s another sad tragedy in our world. It isn’t only happening here, today there was a similar attack in Beijing, China, except that the attacker used a knife instead of a gun and it was at a primary school. 22 children and 1 adult were wounded. This problem is not exclusive to the US. What can we do about it? I wish someone had an answer. At the end of the day, if a person decides to do something like this they are going to do it, whether by gun, knife, bomb or other method and sadly there really isn’t much that can be done to stop someone like this, that has gone that far off the edge. That is the sad destructive truth behind people that have this evil inside of them.
